Acceptance into the 2008 Student Shorts Film Festival
I was just notified that i was accepted into the 8th Annual 2008 Student Shorts film Festival in Toronto! Over 400 films entered and only 42 were selected. Im very proud to be a part of it and im excited to see all the other great films! Maybe ill see some of you there!
FJORG!!!!!!!!!
My team (Fantastic Fjorgers) took 2nd place at this years FJORG competition!!!! The prizes included Gnomon Workshop DVD’s, Digital Tutor gift certificates, Toonboom studio, new graphics cards and the best…an insiders tour at Disney and Dreamworks and lunch with the animation leads, production assistants and the heads of character animation at Dreamworks!!!!! Purty sweet!
Thanks to Disney and Dreamworks for sponsering the event and to Patricia Beckman-Wells, Becky Wible Searles and all the other people who made it possible!
(In case you dont know what FJORG is, its a 32 hour animation iron man competition. Teams of 3 are given a topic and 32 hours to create the best story they can. To see the films, head over here and click on the team names to download the films:
SCRATCH WON!!!
My film won at the recent California International Animation Festival! My category was 3D and i took 1st place! Thanks to all those that were there and to all those that have taken the time to watch!
First Film Festival!!!
“Scratch” has made it into its first film festival,
the 2008 California International Animation Festival!
Not only that, it’s a finalist as well, against 5 other films from all over the world!
Maybe I’ll see some of you there!
FJORG!!!
I just received an email a few days ago notifying me that i was accepted into the FJORG competition at SIGGRAPH this August! Im so excited to be able to participate. Ive already seen my fellow group members’ work and their stuff is great! Its gonna be a fun competition!
“Scratch” is now available on pocketmovies.net, a great place to download movies right to your PDA or iPhone! It seems to be getting a fair amount of attention there too!

11 Second Club – 3rd Place!
I made 3rd place in February’s 11 Second Club Competition with my two character dialogue piece!
There were 119 entries total and 650 people voted. I even beat out a couple of Animation Mentor students and their work is always stellar so im pretty proud right now! Congrats to everyone.

“Imago” – animated short
I just came across this animated short and i simply had to post it. Beautiful style and story. Its nice to see a piece of animation that makes you feel happily sad.

Disney returns to creating short films!
Heres a couple of articles highlighting Disneys rebirth of short films! Im so excited! They have some heavy hitters too: Mark Henn and Andreas Deja (animator of Jafar/Scar/Hercules to name a few!) are working on the new Goofy short. Its great to see Disney putting their best animators to work on their most classic characters.
